The City of Kandiyohi requires a building permit for the following Items. 

• Any NEW residential or commercial building. 
• Any addition or structural modification on an existing building. 
• A new deck or porch. A permit is not required for rebuilding a deck if the original footings are able to be used.
• A detached Garage/Shed that is larger than 10 x 12 or 120 square feet. 
• Any interior Mechanical or electrical work(this is so that the building is still up to state codes)
• Any Demolition (Asbestos inspection and lab fees not included)

 Please note that the permit becomes null and void if work or construction authorized is not commenced within one(1) year or if construction is suspended or abandoned for a period of six (6) months at any time after work is commenced. 

 Building Permit Applications must be accompanied by a complete set of plans for the work being done.

The City of Kandiyohi requires an excavation permit for the following Items:

• Any excavation in right-of-way areas. 

Please note that the permit becomes null and void if work or construction is not commenced within 60 days, or if construction or work is suspended or abandoned for a period of 120 at any time after work is commenced. 

 An illustration of the proposed work must be submitted along with the Permit Application. 

All concrete removed in R.O.W.(Curb and Gutter, Sidewalk and Drive Apron) shall be replaced at the permittee's expense.

The City of Kandiyohi Brush/Compost site hours will be from 7 A.M. until Sundown and is available to the residents of the City of Kandiyohi only. 

• NO COMMERCIAL DUMPING WILL BE ALLOWED. 
• This site is for yard waste only.  Household garbage, tires, appliances, building material, etc. are not allowed at any time.
• Gate must be closed and locked when you leave the site.
