Water & Sewer Utilities
At the City of Kandiyohi, we are committed to providing safe, reliable, and high-quality water and sewer services to our community while maintaining a high standard of customer service and environmental stewardship. We are dedicated to ensuring that our utility systems continue to meet the needs of our residents both now and in the future.
Please feel free to contact the City Office if you have any questions or need assistance regarding the water and sewer services we provide.
Utility Billing Transition
Beginning April 15, 2026, water and sewer billing is transitioning from Kandiyohi Power Cooperative (KPC) to direct billing by the City of Kandiyohi.
This transition is occurring as existing meters are replaced throughout the community with new Kamstrup meters. Until your meter has been replaced, billing will continue through Kandiyohi Power Cooperative (KPC). Once your meter has been changed, you will begin receiving utility bills directly from the City of Kandiyohi.
During the transition period:
- Continue paying your utility bills through KPC until you receive a bill from the City.
- Once City billing begins for your account, payments should be made directly to the City of Kandiyohi.
- Any remaining balance on your KPC account must still be paid directly to KPC.
First City Bill
For your first City bill, water usage for the billing period may be split between KPC and the City:
- Usage recorded on your old meter will be billed by KPC.
- Usage recorded on your new meter will be billed by the City.
- The full monthly water and sewer base fees will be charged by the City.
Residents will only be charged one set of monthly base fees. Water and sewer base fees will not be included on your final KPC bill, and no prorated base fees will be charged.
Billing Schedule
Under the City's utility billing system:
- Meters are read from the 1st day of the month through the last day of the month.
- Utility bills are typically mailed around the 15th of each month.
- Bills reflect usage from the previous month.
- Payments are due on the 10th of the following month.
