Infrastructure Project Phase 1

To help keep residents and business owners informed, the City will post weekly construction updates as they become available. These updates will include information about the current schedule, upcoming work, and other items related to the project.

Updates are expected to be provided late Tuesday afternoons. If a weekly update is not available, any new information or notes will be posted below as they are received. Construction update flyers will also be available at the Post Office and at OM Food Mart on the south side of Kandiyohi. Moore Engineering will prepare the update flyers, and the City will distribute them.

Key Notes
The public is urged to use caution throughout this construction season and to stay clear of all construction equipment & areas being actively worked on.

• Please use caution when driving on the roads of the project. Not all roads will be passable with all vehicles at all times. Use caution when roads are muddy due to rain. 

• There may be times of temporary water shut downs as the contractor is working on temporary hook-ups and main installations.

May 12, 2026
Weekly Update •
The contractor will continue working on water main and sanitary sewer on 5th Street as well as sub-cutting the proposed roadway on 3rd Street and McLaughlin Avenue.
Looking Ahead •
The contractor will finish sub-cutting McLaughlin Avenue and begin working on the water main and sanitary sewer on 4th Street.


May 6, 2026
Weekly Update • 
The contractor will finish the services on 3rd Street and 7th Street. They will begin the storm sewer on 3rd Street.
Looking Ahead •
The contractor will begin to sub-cut the proposed roadway on 3rd Street. The second crew will begin the sanitary sewer and water main on McDermott Avenue between 5th Street and 6th Street.


April 28, 2026
Weekly Update •
The contractor finish the sanitary sewer and begin working on the water main on 7th Street. Another crew will be completing the water main on McLaughlin Ave and begin working on the sewer and water services on McLaughlin Ave.  This week, on Wednesday into Thursday the temperatures are predicted to drop. The contractor has asked that a faucet in the houses with temporary water is left on with a slight trickle to keep water moving and prevent the temporary water lines outside from freezing.
Looking Ahead •
The contractor will begin working on the sanitary and water services on 7th Ave. A second crew will begin working on the sanitary sewer on 3rd Street.


April 21, 2026
Weekly Update •
The contractor will continue working on the sanitary sewer main on McLaughlin Avenue and 3rd Street, as well as the sanitary sewer main on McDermott Ave & 7th Street.
Looking Ahead •
The contractor will work on the water main on McLaughin Avenue & 3rd Street and the sanitary sewer main and water main on McDermott Ave & 7th Street.

Weekly Update • The contractor will continue working on reclaiming the roads and setting up temporary water this week.
Looking Ahead • There will be 2–3 contractor crews working on McLaughlin Avenue & 3rd Street and McDermott Avenue & 7th Street on the sanitary sewer.

March 31, 2026
Please note that Tuesday, March 31, is an exception, as there are no additional schedule updates at this time. 


March 27, 2026
Phase 1 construction will begin Monday, March 30, starting with temporary water setup followed by street reclaiming. The project includes improvements to sanitary sewer, watermain, storm sewer, roadway infrastructure, as well as replacement of the water tower and water meters as part of this phase of work. Residents may experience temporary water shutoffs and are asked to use caution around construction areas.
